The former executive vice president of development at Fortnite creator Epic Games has been hired to run technology at Yuga Labs, the company behind Bored Ape Yacht Club and the Otherside metaverse.
Mike Seavers will start with Yuga as chief technology officer (CTO) on May 22 and replaces Yuga Labs co-founder Kerem Atalay, who will move into an advisory role.
Seavers was at Epic for two years and oversaw Fortnite’s engineering team, as well as product development across Epic platforms, Decrypt reported.
Prior to that, he was CTO at League of Legends and Valorant studio Riot Games.
“Mike has a proven track record of taking organizations to the next level, and he shares our vision for how important digital identity and community will be for the future of the internet,” Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre said in a statement.
Alegre, the former president and COO at Activision Blizzard, was hired by Yuga in December.
