Polemos is looking for a 3D Character Artist to support the creation of iconic characters from the Polemos Universe. This position reports directly to the Art Director and works closely with other creative team members such as the 3D Animator, 3D Modeler and Game Writer.

ResponsIbilities

  • Create high-quality character art that adheres to next-gen technical specs while looking and functioning amazingly well in the engine
  • Able to handle the creation of a character from start to finish : modeling, sculpting, detailing, retopology, cleaning, texturing, shading, baking, debug
  • Work in collaboration with the Concept Artists / Art Director to maintain visual style and quality
  • Assist in planning asset production in collaboration with the concept and design teams
  • Work closely with other team members along the character art pipeline, providing high quality work
  • Provide feedback and knowledge to others within discipline through critiques, feedback and mentoring
  • Keep skills sharp and up to date, staying on top of technical trends
  • Sculpt/model UV & texture and integrate both high & low polygon meshes in a PBR pipeline
  • Provide proxy models for early game/cinematic integration
  • Assist in the planning of content creation in collaboration with other members of the creative team
  • Collaborate with all other disciplines to ensure that all character work meets the high-quality expectations set by the organization

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Maya, 3DS Max, and/or Blender; Zbrush, Marvelous Designer, Photoshop, and Substance Painter/Designer
  • 2+ years of experience in the AAA Video game industry / or similar skillset demonstrated by portfolio
  • Proficiency in creating highly detailed, realistic and semi-realistic shaders and textures
  • A strong artistic vision to translate both organic and hard surface characters from concept to game-ready assets
  • Solid knowledge of high-poly modeling, digital sculpting, and retopology while retaining the look of high resolution models
  • A strong understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling 
  • An exceptional understanding of human anatomy and a strong personal art style
  • A superior eye for value, color, and detail in creating textures - combined with a strong understanding of PBR
  • Experience with grooming, hair and fur
  • Experience working within cross-discipline strike teams on collaborative assignments
  • An understanding of next-generation content creation
  • Experience with structuring & maintaining pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills, proactivity, and ability to work well within a small team
  • Ability to receive and apply critique on your work and complete tasks by the assigned due dates

Bonus Qualifications

  • Knowledge in rigging
  • Experience using Unreal or a comparable engine
  • Significant experience with or knowledge of DeFi or GameFi
