The studio behind top-down hero shooter The Machines Arena (TMA) is one of four studios joining the blockchain network of Sky Mavis, the makers of crypto gaming hit Axie Infinity.
The partnership between Directive Games and Sky Mavis, which was announced on Thursday, will expose the in-development TMA to Axie’s large audience base, now estimated to be about 389,000 players each month, down from more than 2.7 million at its peak in January 2022.
The other three studios that will build games on the Ronin blockchain, which was hacked to the tune of $620 million last year, are Tribes, Bali Games, and Bowled.io.
TMA is currently in closed beta and available for PC on the Epic Games Store. A mobile version is in development.
It’s a free-to-play game, but has an optional play-to-earn layer that allows players to benefit from owning NFTs (unique digital assets).
