After a $210 million naming rights deal with disgraced crypto exchange FTX collapsed late last year, esports giant Team SoloMid (TSM) has announced its next crypto move: a partnership with Avalanche to bring its competitive gaming platform Blitz onto the blockchain.

Team SoloMid (TSM) plans to launch a custom subnet on Avalanche for tournaments, giving the more than 30 million gamers who use Blitz the chance to play and earn crypto.

Blitz is an app geared towards fans of Riot Games titles such as League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics and Valorant, and gives its users access to a range of statistics and online tools to help improve gameplay.

“[Blitz] recently introduced a feature called Arenas which has thousands of players competing challenges for money (enter crypto),” Tweeted Luigi D’Onorio DeMeo, the head of DeFi at Avalanche owner Ava Labs.

D’Onorio DeMeo said the “massive reach” of TSM and Blitz provided an “opportunity for millions of engaged gamers to earn real crypto”.

Both TSM and Blitz will use Core to power all user payments and to store, sell and purchase digital assets.

Blitz’s subnet will use $AVAX for gas fees, burning a portion of $AVAX fees with every transaction that gamers make.

In the future, the Blitz subnet intends to evolve into an elastic subnet, enabling greater community involvement by allowing users to validate the subnet.
